Spring is Time to Recalculate Your Path

May 10, 2011

Spring is a time of renewal.  A time to clean out the old and plant the new.  A time to recommit to our values and reinvigorate our efforts towards our goals.  It’s also a time to get outside and get a breath of fresh air.  To reevaluate our actions and to recalculate our path.

It’s at time to reflect on where we are in life and, metaphorically speaking, where we would like to be. So let’s all commit to the following:

I will make time to calculate the value of what I own and the total of what I owe.

I will make time to imagine my life several decades from now and will push my vision to include activities and ventures that might be presently out of reach.

I will make time to devise a step-by-step plan to move my life from the present towards my future vision.  I know that compound interest is the seventh wonder of the world and I believe that the money that money makes will provide an income I cannot outlive if I only give my plan enough time and money.  Thus, I will pay myself first before I spend on my immediate needs.  I will consistently and patiently add to what I own and pay down on what I owe.

I will track my success as I progress through my step-by-step plan to keep myself motivated and to modify the plan for the many unforeseen challenges that it will face.

I will remain positive and energized in the knowledge and faith that my life, the lives of my family, and the life experience of the human family around the globe will continue to improve through an unending spirit and drive to make life better for ourselves and our children.

I will remain steadfast in my belief that I am responsible for what happens to me and I can only control and change my own actions.  I am exactly where I am based upon my actions but I can improve if I make an effort.

I will ask for help from mentors and advisors who are experienced and knowledgeable in matters that I am not, and who can help me to help myself.  As I seek out mentors and advisors, I will seek only those who will commit in writing to put my interest ahead of their own.

I will turn off the television, worry less, smile more, and take time to smell the new flowers appearing in a renewed world all around me.
